Summer! Summer! WIND! WIND!The wind has been blowing pretty hard these last few weeks making fishing pretty challenging. With that being said when the wind dies down the fishing has been spectacular. Pompano are still running on the beach side when the times are right so make sure you look at the solunar table.
Trout, Redfish and Black Drum have been thick on the beach the last two weeks with many of our own members posting their catch to this page. As always your best surf gear is a pompano rig baited with sand flea fish bites for a low maintenance catch.
In the bay we are arriving at the best time of the year for a diverse catch of species. Redfish have been biting on spoons, redfish magic and of course your DOA/Gulps. Triple tail have also arrived in the bay so make sure you keep an eye out for a fish as you pass by any structure that happens to be floating in the water. Use shrimp or white gulps for unlimited fun with these pelagic fish. Trout have been found in about 3-4 ft of water over grass flats using Mirrolures and Z Man baits.
Spanish, Ladyfish and Blue Fish have also been crazy by either cut or in about 10 ft of open water. If you see a school throw on them for 20 minutes of fun but I don’t suggest keeping. These have been caught on any gotcha plug or silverspoons with a fast retrieve. If you need any help come on in to the store and we can hook you up.
